The ‘EL’ series of inverters have been designed to operate normal mains luminaires at full brightness. Using existing light fittings eliminates the need for obtrusive fittings being used just for emergency lighting. The output voltage is the same as the mains, allowing large areas to be covered with little voltage drop along cable runs. With systems starting from 25VA they make a cost effective solution in any scheme, large or small.
Operation is simple – under normal conditions the mains supply feeds the charger, keeping the battery fully charged. A by-pass circuit connects the lights to the mains, allowing them to be switched with other lights in the same area. When the mains fails, the inverter is started, drawing power from the battery to maintain those lights connected to it.
